About Fibes, Oh Fibes!
Fibes, Oh Fibes!, a swedish six piece band hailing from the town of Gothenburg on the Swedish westcoast. They made their breakthrough on the swedish charts with singels "One Hour Baby" and "This City's Got No Boulevards". They play piano-heavy pop with influences by american westcoast rock, adult oriented rock, the slick production of disco-era fleetwood mac and blue eyed soul.
The band formed in 2001 and released their debut album "Still Fresh" in 2004, the album is characterized by a soulful sound with lot's of brass and piano. Two years later second album "Emotional" saw the light of day wich presented a new soundscape for the band. With "Emotional" a transition from the soul influences towards a more discoified sound is noticed. Where the echoes of a stompy motown sound could be heard on their debut, the follow up had a much more modern production but with clear influences from discofied AOR from the late 70's.
As of 2007/12/12 the band is in the studio working on material for their third full-lenght album, some of the songs have been co-written by Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet
