About Eyes on the Skyline

"We wanted to start something different than everything you hear right now" -Doug Dunlap. Eyes On The Skyline came about when Doug Dunlap decided in 2009 that the world needed something new in the music scene. Taking the time to find the right musicians was the hardest part. There were many that had the potential, but something was still missing. Doug called on the aid of his good friend Duncan Murray to assist him with the project. A short time later Seth Abrams and Brad Williams were found and recruited because of their natural talent. With the project almost completed all that was left was to find the other guitarist. Try out after tryout it just seemed like there wasn't anyone out there that could provide what they needed. Finally, Sean Powell appeared and with years of experience was welcomed by the whole band. 2011 was the year Eyes On The Skyline really started making a name for themselves, releasing their first track "We Who Walk", which is well known by many fans. In late 2011 the band went into Easy St. Studios in Simi Valley, CA and started working with Jules Leon to record their first E.P. On January 1st, 2012 Eyes On The Skyline released their Self-Titled E.P. to the world. With a huge response, Eyes On The Skyline had achieved exactly what they were aiming to do. Later on in 2012 Seth Abrams and Brad Williams decided to put Eyes On The Skyline in the past and start focusing on school. With two members leaving, the band decided to step back and focus on their sound. In the process of writing new material and building a more stable foundation, Eyes On The Skyline found Jonny Roa while holding auditions for a guitarist in Los Angeles, CA. Jonny's amazing ability and drive was more than enough to make him our final choice and permanent member of the band. Still looking to fill their spot for a Drummer, Sean reached out to a former bandmate Justin Lannes. The timing couldn't have been better, Justin was currently in between projects and looking for a stable, permanent position in a band. Eyes On The Skyline was more than happy to welcome him to the family and in September 2012 Justin became the official drummer for Eyes on the Skyline. On October 26, 2012 Eyes On The Skyline released their second EP titled "The Freebie", exclusively on Bandcamp.com. "The point behind this EP was to show our thanks to each and every person who purchased our first Self-Titled EP we release in January 2012. Even though The Freebie only consists of three songs, we put a lot of passion into each one of them. We wanted everything to be motivational and positive, one of the songs titled "Dan's Song" has a lot of meaning behind it. I lost a friend to suicide in October 2011 and we wrote it as tribute to him. The song also expresses no matter how hard life can be there is always a way to make it through, you have to stay positive and keep looking forward." -Duncan Murray.
