Esther Veen

Esther Veen is a 23-year-old singer, songwriter and composer. She grew up listening to the music of Bach, Mozart, Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu. Esther was very shy as a child and observed everyone quietly from her high chair. The only time her parents heard her voice was in the middle of the night. According to Esther, that was the perfect moment to sing and make her own songs. With a guitarist as her mother, Esther soon got her first guitar to accompany her own songs. Esther Veen’s music is not only inspired by her mother, her dad had a great influence on her musical journey as well. Her father is Indonesian and Esther has always been very attracted to the Indonesian/Oriental music and culture. Esther’s father would pass on the albums of his favorite artists from the 80’s, like Madonna, Michael Jackson and U2. In 2012 she studied at ACRA in Tilburg, in preparation of her Rock Academy audition. Her teachers at ACRA recommended her to wait another year or two to apply for the preselection. This only motivated her more to take extra Vocal classes besides her normal classes, it definitely payed off because Esther got admitted at the Rock Academy that same year. Esther met her band in the second year of the Rock Academy. The music she writes with her band is a melting pot of all the different styles and genres she has been listening to throughout the years. Besides her band project she also collaborates with Electronic music producers. Her featuring on Malvae’s (producer) track ‘Haunts Me’ recently hit half a million streams on Spotify. Not a lot has changed, Esther still writes her songs in the middle of the night, when the rest of the world is already asleep. electronic - indie - pop [synths, drums and vocals]
