About Eric Welford

William Eric Welford, the first born son of Tony and Tianey Welford, was born on October 12, 1989 in Mobile, Alabama. It seemed from an early age, Eric as friends and family call him, was destined for success. His father, a progressive country bass player, toured from the coast of Texas to the shores of Florida while his mother was content being "Mom" and singing around the home and their church. Both were astonished at the talent their young son possessed and portrayed. At the tender age of 12, a guitar was placed in Eric's hand and thus his journey began. With a father on the road most of the time, Eric and younger brother Brandon, took care of and entertained Mom with the sound of country music and to the likes of such artist as Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash; sounds he listened to with his parents. Music seemed to be a solace; a comfort through hard and lonely times. Eric then began to develop his own innate sound and style; one more like the newer generation of county artists. A 2008 graduate of Greene County High School in Leakesville, Mississippi, Welford watched with a heavy heart the war that was raging in the Middle East. After waking one morning, Eric could no longer deny the calling placed upon him. He joined the Army National Guard out of Lucedale, Mississippi 287-EN MAC where he served as a combat engineer, being deployed to Afghanistan in February 2010. Realizing the scars that war can leave, Eric's commander permitted him to bring along his guitar and agreed to store it in the weapons crate for him. This guitar was the saving grace for many men and women after many long days of serving their country. Eric would sing and bring forth memories of family, memories of "home". One evening, a bomb detonated on Eric and his unit; forever changing his life. http://www.rc-east.com/regional-command-east-news-mainmenu-401/3028-mississippis-bomb-hunters-army-national-guardsmen-fight-roadside-bombs.html After 12 months of serving his country, Eric wanted to return home and not waste a moment in his life! At a mere 25 years of age, he works construction full time, but refuses to give up on the one thing that has remained contstant in his life..... his dream of music. Eric doesn’t just sing country music he is country music. Your son with a smoky yet clean tone. Your brother who’s melody will hit like a good brawl. Your working man who will sing prayers through the drought only to fall to his knees in thanks when the smell of a good rain is coming on. Your lover who serenades a guttural moan to a breathy whisper in one smooth note. Your soldier where loyalty abides as the song that will not escape your mind. Your country singer with the voice that will burn you like good whiskey and stick sweet like honey. He is your America. Country singer/songwriter from Leakesville, Ms
