From Perth to Boston, Nashville to Tamworth, the last few years have been quite a journey for Western Australian singer-songwriter Emily Joy. Her debut single Barricade shot to #2 on the iTunes charts next to Keith Urban and is the first track off the self-titled EP, mixed by Nashville engineer Aaron Chiemlewski (Taylor Swift, Faith Hill) and mastered by Hank Williams (Keith Urban, Brad Paisley). With an impressive half a million views on her YouTube channel covering classic songs, her first original release was highly anticipated. Earlier this year, Emily's cover of "Jolene" went viral on Facebook reaching 1.2 million people and was featured on Buzzfeed. "Barricade” music video was shot by Golden Guitar winning crew The Filmery and tells the story of heartbreak, a scenario where love simply isn’t enough. Channelling the storytelling of the greats Dolly Parton and John Denver as well as the vocal hooks of contemporaries Taylor Swift and Shania Twain, her music has been described as a combination of these with a modern twist. A prolific songwriter, Emily has crafted an array of songs that will make up her soon to be released self-titled EP, recorded between Perth and Nashville. Being a perfectionist at heart, this young artist managed to assemble a dream team of players for her record including Mike Johnson (Carrie Underwood, Billy Ray Cyrus) and John Willis (Shania Twain, Dolly Parton).
