El Prez

A fixture in the LA music scene over a span of 9 mixtapes/EP's since releasing the “Prezanomics” mixtape in 2007, El Prez has worked or performed with many artists at the forefront of today’s rap community like Freddie Gibbs, Kendrick Lamar, YG, Miguel, Blu, Casey Veggies, Fashawn, Dom Kennedy, Buddy, and others. Regarded as an ambassador to the city by many, his sharp-witted comments and commentary on LA life has taken El Prez all over the US on various festivals and tours such as SXSW, A3C, CMJ, Def Jam/Diamond Skate Supply, and the LoveStory Tour with artist Shawn Chrys and others. Cosigned by rap luminaries from 9th Wonder to DJ Houseshoes, El Prez has garnered media coverage from outlets such as BET, MTV, BET Jams, The Source, XXL Magazine, 2dopeboyz, The Smoking Section, Nah Right, Pitchfork, HipHopDX, LA Weekly, New York Magazine, Deadend Hip Hop, and others. His 2014 project, Urban $treet Americana w/ Delicious Vinyl producer Jansport J, was arguably his best work to date. Regarded by many as one of the stellar releases of 2014, with the EP demo release landing on the Best Of/ AOTY lists for 2013 by a fair amount of blogs such as The Source, AshleyOutrageous.com, The Smoking Section/Uproxx, and PotholesinmyBlog. Released on iTunes and all music outlets thru his own Urban $treet America Records label, Urban $treet Americana spawned a #1 single on college/mixshow radio with “Same King” and another mixshow #1 single with the summer anthem “Droptops”, which was released as a single on the historic LA-based rap label Delicious Vinyl in 2015. Plans for 2017 and beyond include the release of 3 projects, starting with the collab LP Labtrappincalifornia, with NY producer Coopatroop, released July 2017.
