Eighty Ninety's debut single "Three Thirty" quickly reached #2 on Spotify's Global Viral Chart. Their music has had over 20 million streams since the release of their moody, romantic debut EP “Elizabeth”, featuring on Spotify playlists New Music Friday, Pop Rising, Indie Pop, Chill Vibes, Viral Hits, Fresh Finds and many more — even earning a co-sign from Taylor Swift along the way.

Brothers Abner and Harper James write, produce, perform and mix all of Eighty Ninety’s music out of a small production space in New York City. Their songs fuse intimate storytelling, sticky melodies, and minimalist pop productions built on acoustic instruments and electronic sounds in a style they call “808s and telecasters”. Their music, videos, and performances have been featured in blogs and publications such as Ones To Watch, Alternative Press, Galore, LadyGUNN, Indie Shuffle, Billboard, NME, Huffington Post, Local Wolves, Dancing Astronaut, and Run the Trap - and has been featured on over 500,000 Spotify-curated and user playlists.

The success of “Elizabeth” saw Eighty Ninety’s photo on the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist with their song "Fading" while a second single, “Heartbreaker”, made waves on international viral charts.

In the spring of 2018, Taylor Swift chose Eighty Ninety’s single “Your Favorite Song” as #13 on her official Spotify playlist Songs Taylor Loves. Popdust noted that “The pop superstar has picked her new big acts to support and these brothers might be her favorite...the oh so sweet spot of #13...just happens to be Taylor's lucky number. Coincidence? We think not”. Ones To Watch wrote that the brothers had been “Ordained by Taylor Swift herself”.

"Your Favorite Song" was also praised by outlets like Alternative Press, which called the song a "heartfelt anthem", and Huffington Post, which declared it "beautiful...pop music at its best."

The band followed with a remix of "Your Favorite Song" by multiplatinum pop-duo Loote, and a new single “Dream”, which featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday as well as ten other international Spotify New Music Friday playlists. Ones To Watch premiered “Dream”, calling the song “ethereal...mesmerizing...intoxicating…” and summed up their take on the band: “Marrying elements of synth, electropop, and indie-rock, Eighty Ninety have forged a glittering, entrancing sound that is, above all else, their own.”

Eighty Ninety began performing at New York venues such as Music Hall of Williamsburg, Ludlow House, Elsewhere, and Mercury Lounge, sharing the stage with artists including VHS Collection, Des Rocs, PHANGS, Savoir Adore, and Vinyl Theatre. In March 2018 they embarked on an east coast tour to SXSW, playing multiple showcases around Austin. LadyGUNN caught one of their sets and named Eighty Ninety an “Artist You Should Have Seen At SXSW”. Indie Shuffle covered another of their SXSW shows and wrote that the band “marry soft pop melodies with acoustic guitars and glossy synths…Eighty Ninety’s polished work is beautiful…I can’t stress enough that their live acoustics are something special.”

They followed SXSW by signing to Hard 8 // Working Group management and supporting Savoir Adore on the east coast leg of their First Bloom Tour. In December 2018, Ones To Watch named Eighty Ninety “one of indie pop music’s most promising acts”.

The band is currently finishing their upcoming EP, due out in 2019.
