Ecocide

ECOCIDE is an Oldschool Death Metal band from Haarlem, The Netherlands, formed April 2012 by Sten Govers (Guitar/Vocals) and Bas Gijzen (Drums) initially as a Thrash Metal band. A few weeks later Rick Stikkelorum joined to be the bassplayer. After being active for about a year the band released a demo simply called ‘’Ecocide’’. After this demo the band changed their musical approach more towards Death Metal and began working on their first album. The band recorded ‘’Eye of Wicked Sight’’ at Dirty Bird Studios (NL) on the 18th of May 2013. The album was released July 22nd later that year. The album received a lot of positive reviews from all over the world and the band began to rise very quickly, resulting in many gigs in both The Netherlands and surrounding countries. In January 2014 ECOCIDE signs with Dan’s Crypt Records and plan to release their second album, they also change their formation from a 3-piece to a 4-piece band, adding Dennis Bikker as a 2nd guitarist. ECOCIDE has played with many well-known bands such as Bolt Thrower, Gorguts, Cannabis Corpse, Malevolent Creation, Pungent Stench, Carach Angren, Sinister etc. They also played on some of the bigger underground festivals including Baroeg Open Air and Essen Deathfest. In April 2015 the band decides to split due to musical differences. Bas (Drums) Dennis (Guitar) and Rick (Bass) started a new band called ''GORGED'', Sten (Guitar/Vocals) also starts a new band called ''In Time of Plague''. On the 11th of January 2017 ECOCIDE officially announce their return and with it their first gig after 2 years, wich will take place April 21 at Patonaat Haarlem. 4-Headed Oldschool Death Metal from The Netherlands.
