DOOMSDAY DIARIES is a progressive/psychedelic rock band dedicated to re-defining the course of today’s rock music scene, and re-introducing the glory of Progressive Rock to a new generation. Founded in 2009 by twin brothers J von DOOM (Jason Sproviero) and THE EVIL TWIN (Sean Sproviero) of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, DOOMSDAY DIARIES features the incredible talents of vocalist/bassist ELLA HESTER of Brooklyn, New York. DOOMSDAY DIARIES' performances focus upon the musical compositions of the Brothers Sproviero, which compositions range from the ethereal and atmospheric to driving rock anthems which evoke the spirit of classic progressive rock of the ‘70’s. Inspired by the music of The Beatles, King Crimson, Steven Wilson and Pink Floyd, J von Doom loves all things British, whether it be a new album from Big Big Train, a bag of Fish and Chips or an old James Bond movie. More than a remarkable young songwriter and guitarist, Jay is a dreamer, with hopes that music can one day guide humanity toward the Path to Enlightenment. A devotee of the Masonic Culture, J von Doom views himself as a “Modern-Day Templar”, infusing his musical and lyrical content with images and allegories evoking mysteries of the esoteric and references to ancient Truths long lost in the annals of archaic history. Inspired by the progressive and ambient sounds of the likes of Radiohead, Porcupine Tree and King Crimson, Jay’s injection of his own vision and distinctive guitar textures into contemporary music is testament to his uncompromising musical integrity and devotion to the establishment of new sonic boundaries. Stoic, intense and incredibly focused, Sean Sproviero – the “Evil Twin" – approaches the music of DOOMSDAY DIARIES with the same attitude which he displays in all of his endeavors - an uncompromising commitment to excellence. A gifted student of physics and mathematics, Music is Sean’s outlet from the world of academia. Influenced by the styles of John Wetton of King Crimson, Nick Beggs of The Steven Wilson Band and Tony Levin (who’s played with everyone that’s anyone), Sean is the Barron of the Bottom End – creating a thunderous sonic foundation capable of supporting a soundtrack to the Apocalypse. Described by Adam Holzman of The Steven Wilson Band as “a natural born bassist”, The Evil Twin’s musical contributions, both on bass guitar and bass pedals, are integral to DOOMSDAY DIARIES’ distinctive sound. The impact upon Doomsday Diaries by its newest member, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist ELLA HESTER, was immediate, authentic and perhaps the most significant infusion of musical counterpoint the band has known since its formation in 2009. With a solid jazz/fusion background, and with a love for the progressive rock roots shared by the remainder of the band, Ella brings a fresh perspective and enhanced emotional charge to the music of DOOMSDAY DIARIES. Ella brings a totally new perspective to the future and direction of DOOMSDAY DIARIES, enabling the band to abandon any pretense of pop culture conformity, and establishing a singularity of purpose within the band to pursue, and expand, the cutting edge of progressive rock.
