DJ Emanuel Skinner

Born in Illinois raised on the coast of Northern California in Bolinas, a small remote
hippie surf town which inspired his interest in music: punk, reggae, hip hop, new
wave, Ska, Funk and early electro like Egyptian Lover & Mantronix. He bought his
first technics turntables and started making mixtapes religiously. He eventually
started doing monthly underground parties in 1996 warming up for a headliner or
doing peak time sets. The year 2000 he jumped on a plane with a 1 way ticket to
Bangkok to live out a dream, share his gift of music. That dream came true. Emanuel
become an icon and leader in the Bangkok house music movement. He attained
near celebrity status in South East Asia for bringing the San Francisco house sound
to Thailand and he was a regular at least once a month in China, India, S. Korea,
Burma, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Koh Samui
full moon beach & Jungle parties etc...
Tapas club situated in the heart of the financial district, which turned into a house music sanctuary & playground after dark. This is where Emanuel called home for 3 years which made him a local pioneer, leader and musical icon. Effortlessly blending live percussionists with House music. His penchant for rhythmic
complexity, organic machine made beats and soulful uplifting energy proves Emanuel has the experience and is a natural behind the decks.

2003 he created a weekly institution 'Models night' at Bed Supperclub Bangkok’s most successful Wednesday night playing Underground house and techno for 9 years. It was one of the most talked about nights in and around Asia and abroad.
His hard work and persistent attitude won numerous awards ‘Best Bar’ 3 years, ‘Best
Dance Club’ 3 consecutive years and voted ‘Best DJ’ 3 years in a row by BK
Magazine for his pivotal role in creating something consistent, fresh and unique. The
owners of Tapas Room took Emanuel in like family and gave him the necessary
tools for artistic freedom so he could create nothing but the best.
After 3 and a half very successful years at Tapas room he left for a very attractive
offer to work at new venue never before seen in Thailand, the beginning of the

Bed Supperclub hired him on as full time resident DJ 6 days a week and as assistant
A&R doing artist bookings, sound consultant and events.
Their most successful weeknight was 'Models night' It was the most talked about night in and around Asia and abroad for the jet set crowd & international models,
locals, expats and believers in the groove..

Back in 1996 he got his first residency at a venue in San Francisco called ‘Skunk lounge’ at the Maritime Hall and ‘Groove lounge’ with long time college friend Miguel Migs warming up for local DJs, organizing parties in random locations around the Bay Area and throwing his own parties. Some DJs he was very fortunate to spin with incl. Miguel Migs, Rick Preston, Jon Howard, Chris Lum, David Harness, Doc Martin, Lisa Shaw, DRC, DJ Rasoul, Dubtribe and other greats at the time.
