Friday the 18th of September saw Melbourne Pop/Rock band Des Chio launch their long awaited single ‘Better Without You’. To celebrate the release of this single and the release of the bands first music video, Des Chio we’re joined by Melbourne folk rock band Woodlock at Glen Waverley Community Centre for an all age’s event that attracted over 150 fans. Tearing into an energetic six song set, the female fronted Des Chio delivered high energy rock with a defined and mature pop music sensibility reminiscent of bands such as Paramore and The 1975. The band opened and finished with new and unreleased songs that showcased their progression as artists as well as playing crowd favourite ‘The Last Time’, switching up the mood with the more sensitive ‘Stay Gone’ and of course playing the single ‘Better Without You’. Channelling guitar heroes of the 80’s, guitarist Danté Peluso ripped into soaring solos with each song as the crowd cheered for more. The atmosphere at Glen Waverley Community centre was alive as fans danced and cheered for all the bands on the line up while Freeza and security staff provided a safe environment for everybody in attendance. The event was a great success and is sure to see Des Chio surge in popularity. With the release of ‘Better Without You’ the young musicians from Melbourne have set a solid foundation for what will surely be a lasting and successful career in the music industry. Just the way a breakup song should be... gloves off and throwing haymakers. Building from the ground up with a powerhouse rhythm section, Des Chio add texture to their sound with nimble guitar work, leaving space front-and-centre for vocals to give the band its literal and figurative voice. With a song as good as Better Without You, all that really remains is for a great producer to entice the best performance out of the band and capture it with a few fancy German microphones. More than familiar with this process, producer Jimi Maroudas (The Living End, Eskimo Joe, Pete Murray) has brought Better Without You to a level of sonic fidelity that matches the band's live intensity, capturing the vastness of their sound and the rawness of the emotion at the heart of the song. We work closely with local business to help with purchasing instruments and also closely with the organisations to make sure that the correct instruments are distributed to the right precipitant.
