As a powerful master piece in the making since 2001, DefineD is an aggressive relentless, hard hitting force of a "metal" mass. Listeners are struck hard by heavy break-downs and complex rhythm grooves. Following composure, they succumb to the dynamic melodies of bliss. Unlike many new bands bringing acts of parody, DefineD is a new breed that has evolved all the right ingredients from their predecessors. The music is filled with passion and emotion. LIVE, the band is one of the few who should NOT be missed. They always bring on a massive high energetic show that all fans can come to expect. After few EP releases (upcoming full length debut album “Diligence” due late 2010), 9 years of LIVE action, and a combined stage experience of over 30 years………. it's safe to say that these nomads can make any stage their own! Now based in Ottawa, the line up consists of Jon Rioux (vocals) Steve Lajeunesse (drums) Neil Landry (bass) and Pascal "Paco" Jobin (lead guitar). Through a difficult, yet successful past comes a new DefineD with new goals, new songs, and a new ambition. With their sights set higher then ever before, DefineD continue their devastating attack by tearing down every stage they play!! The Past - Founded by high school friends Steve Lajeunesse, Jon Rioux, and Jamie Columbe (guitar/bass), the unnamed cover band started out playing high school assemblies and town events in early 2000. They soon began writing original material and in 2001, with the addition of Patrick Mallett on lead guitar, DefineD was born. As new material was being continually written and performed, the band would see a bevy of bass players come and go, while Jamie jumped back and forth between rhythm guitar and bass. Four years, and multiple bass players later, the band would discover Neil Landry, finally end the ongoing search for a solid low end. Things seemed to be coming together nicely for the band. They would go on to win a handful of "battle of the bands" from 2005 to early 2007, but the band was put on hiatus when both lead guitarist Pat, and rhythm guitarist Jamie, would leave the band to pursue other projects. Realizing they needed to take a new approach, the band took a year off, relocated to Ottawa, and began writing new more aggressive, yet melodic, metal! The search for a new lead guitarist also begin at this time, but within 6 months Dan Levis (Former Graffik Guitarist) would be added and the redesigned DefineD was ready to take off from where they left off ...kicking ass. Since the beginning, the band has always been about good times, good friends, and great fuckin' metal! Over the years DefineD has had the opportunity to play many key venues and events, such as Canadian Music Week and the famous Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto to name a few. Along the way they have also made many friends and fans as far as Australia, Europe, and Brazil. As a whole, the band is relaxed, easy going, and always ready for a good time...so feel free to buy the boys a shot at the bar any time! DefineD's music can be classified as powerful and emotional with great hooky riffs and massive breakdowns. Some fans compare them to a “Pantera meets Unearth meets Sevendust” mixture. Live, the band is vigorous, energetic, and impressive with a dominating stage presence of relentless attack.
