About DEAD SEA LIONS

"Hellishly well-crafted, these electro-pop gems draw equally their influence from the classics of the past, as well as the sound of the 90's and 00's they grew up in. The results are striking, and quite frankly irresistible." - Les Inrockuptibles. Dead Sea Lions is a four-piece electro/rock act from Paris, France. Its members Alex, Paul, Mustapha, Adrien and Balthazar, all in their mid-twenties, started making music together in 2010 and immediately went into recording what would later become their self-titled debut EP. The six tracks presented in this release all feature thick layered production made of synth-heavy beats, overdriven samples, dirty rock guitars and anthemic choruses, complete with a hint of spiteful post-adolescent melancholy. If that didn't sound pompous enough, think of Trent Reznor and James Murphy throwing a party together with the Bomb Squad spinning records and Morrissey mumbling angry wits in a corner while The Prodigy and a translucent Freddie Mercury watch and chaperon the deal with their trademark classy, tasteful discretion. After releasing a couple of those tracks online as a preview a few months back, the band quickly got accolades from the press, including Elle Magazine and Les Inrockuptibles, who wrote nice things and put the band on their summer playlist. Also, iconic national French rock radio Oui FM endorsed their output by putting several tracks on their evening rotation, and their rendition of the Beatles's 1969 smash hit "Come Together" was featured on the cover compilation "Beatlesmania" that was released worldwide on November 29th through Naive Records. The band also just released a music video for their single "Yellow Books". It features dogs and people. As for the EP, it is now available in a pay-what-you-want form on bandcamp here : http://deadsealions.bandcamp.com
