About Datura Curse
Datura Curse from Sydney Australia started out as many bands do. Two guys in a basement with their guitars, their amps and their mutual love of heavy metal. A lot has changed in the world of Datura Curse since 2008, as they have since morphed into one of the strongest acts in the Australian metal scene. The determination of the band to impact on the local and global metal scene led to the release of their debut EP ‘Reason(s)’ on June 11th 2011. ‘Reason(s)’ was recorded at the renowned Penny Drop Audio in Melbourne with producer Warren Hammond (Be’lakor, Jerrico) and mastered at Crystal Audio Melbourne. The raw and captivating artwork is courtesy of Seth Siro Anton (Soilwork, Nuclear Blast, BMG). ‘Reason(s)’ showcases the unique meld of modern melodic metal with the classic Gothenburg sound that has become signature ‘Datura Curse’. Since its release, ‘Reason(s)’ has served to cement Datura Curse at the forefront of Australian metal. ‘Reason(s)’ has been supported by an extensive Australian tour including dates in; Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Newcastle and Sydney. Datura Curse has shared the stage with metal heavyweights including; Arch Enemy (Sweden), Blind Image (India), Segression (Aus), Deprivation (Aus), Octanic (Aus), Darker Half (Aus) and As Silence Breaks (Aus). 2012 will see Datura Curse playing select dates around Australia while focusing on their first full length album scheduled for an early 2013 release.
