About Dan Beaumont

Dan Beaumont is an integral part of the capital’s nightlife scene, having combined his celebrated DJ career with playing out solo and as one of the founders of the seminal Disco Bloodbath. Describing his DJ style as “a heady mix of vintage house music from Chicago, New York, Detroit and beyond, classic underground disco, sublime Italo oddities and 80's pop noir”, it would come as little surprise that the Danceteria scene in Desperately Seeking Susan was an early influence on a young Beaumont, prompting his dreams of becoming a DJ, producer and venue owner. As a producer he’s worked with amazing artists such as Spencer Parker and Terry Farley, and has previously produced with his former Bloodbath co-horts, as well as being one half of basement house producing duo Jam Factory with Ben Rymer. His experience in London nightlife stretches back over a decade, to his time running The Social, where he acquired many of the skills that make his current venture, the groundbreaking queer dance bar Dalston Superstore, such an unbridled success. As legions of London clubbers will attest to, Beaumont’s skill range is not limited to running bars and making music. Since founding the aforementioned club-night Disco Bloodbath in 2007 with Ben Pistor and Damon Martin, he’s gone on to start the cult gay hi-NRG dance party Macho City with his friends Dave Kendrick and Charlie Porter, not to mention the trend-setting Paris’ Acid Ball with East-London favourite Hannah Holland. His long-standing obsession with music doesn’t begin and end in nightclubs, with his name oft appearing in the music press. As a budding writer he’s so far been privileged enough to interview some of his house heroes, such as MK, DJ Harvey and Victor Rossado of Paradise Garage, and contributed to sites such as Faith Fanzine and The Ransom Note. His interviews and mixes have been featured on diverse and respected sites such as Dazed And Confused, Vogue, Pulse Radio and (naturally) the new Dalston Superstore website. Somehow in between all of this he finds time to co-host his own regular show, Rhythm Connection, on underground radio station NTS with long-time collaborator Nadia Ksaiba. In the few short years they’ve been on air, they’ve had guests as varied as Doc Martin, Nile Rodgers of Chic, Bicep, JD Twitch (Optimo) and Joakim to mention but a few. You can listen to their previous shows here: http://ntslive.co.uk/?author=108 Remix credits include: [as part of Disco Bloodbath] Franz Ferdinand, Little Boots, Monarchy and White Lies. [as part of Jam Factory] Discodeine feat Jarvis Cocker, Ben Westbeech and The 2 Bears. Jam Factory have received support from Andrew Weatherall, X-Press 2, Andy Blake, Spencer Parker, Anthony “Shake’ Shakir and Neville Watson. Dan Beaumont has played at numerous clubs, parties and festivals around the world including secretsundaze, Horse Meat Disco, TrailerTrash, Bugged Out, The Warehouse Project, Homoelectric, Fabric, Honey Soundsystem (San Francisco), Trouw (Amsterdam), London Calling (Tokyo), Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Berghain Cantina (Berlin), Stop Making Sense (Croatia), Katerholzig (Berlin) and various underground dance parties in New York.
