About Daisy Daisy Music

Daisy Daisy is Nicola Farnon and Julia McInally, two well-established, Yorkshire-based female musicians. They joined forces in September 2016 and their gutsy original music, stage banter and obvious love of performing is swiftly attracting audiences and selling out venues.

Inspired by a wide range of styles, Daisy Daisy brings something new and exciting to the acoustic music scene. Their songs tell stories, inspire and entertain. They take you from belly laughs to tears in the space of a song.

Originally from Lancashire, singer-songwriter Julia is the daughter of folk singer, Chrissy Waldron, who ran a Rochdale folk club when Julia was a child. Inspired by her mother’s band, ‘The New Bracken Band’, winning the Edinburgh folk festival in 1989, Julia learned to play guitar at the age of eight and first sang on stage at 11. She has been singing, performing and writing songs ever since. Julia’s voice sweeps from vulnerable to powerful and her breathy yet strong tone has been compared to Fleetwood Mac legend, Stevie Nicks.

Wiltshire-born multi-instrumentalist Nicola has a remarkable musical pedigree. Here parents were professional classical musicians and her great uncle the late Grammy award-winner, Robert Farnon. Achieving Grade 8 on both cello and piano aged 11, Nicola then took to the double bass and singing. She’s been enchanting audiences at jazz festivals and clubs to national and international acclaim ever since.

Perhaps the best thing about Daisy Daisy is the obvious friendship and mutual respect these musicians share for each other and their music. They know how lucky they are to be making music for a living and bring the audience into their ‘half-crazy’ life in a way that few artists can.

If you like songs about real life and all its joys and challenges, sung from the heart with rich harmonies and beautiful arrangements, not to mention a bloody good laugh, book your spot at the next Daisy Daisy gig now.
