Currentz

Currentz was created on the foundation of Roots Reggae set in the foundation of an improvisational medium. Everyone in the group met sponateously during open jams around the Tampa Bay/ St. Petersburg area. Eric Layana and Brandan Lewis formed the group in 2012 as a simple acoustic guitar, vocal, percussion duo. As time went on the band grew into a truly unique enity of the Dunedin, FL area.Picking up the extremely talented bass player Justin Ywanauskas, the band began to assemble a funk feel. The last key to the puzzle was the addition of the down right "nasty" organ and keys virtuoso Austin Llewellyn. The newest additions to the band are jazz saxophonist, Cody Moore, and trombone player, Ryan Hiers. (Both from the music department at the University of South Florida). As a unit, Currentz creates a sound special in every sense of the word. Tight one drop reggae beats morph into smooth uptempo disco esque jams that are sure to amaze.
