About Coldair

Coldair is a solo endeavor of Tobiasz Biliński, a 25-year-old producer, composer, singer and classically-trained instrumentalist. Born in Norway, raised by the Baltic Sea in Poland and currently based in-between London, Warsaw and anywhere else he might be at the moment, he has been following the DIY philosophy since the age of 16, releasing a total of 5 critically acclaimed full length albums up to date (2 with his now-dead band Kyst). Although Coldair shys away from trends and fashion, choosing to follow his own path instead, he has managed to score appearances at such festivals as Primavera Sound, POP Montreal, Canadian Music Week, CMJ, Open'er Festival, OFF Festival and SXSW, has embarked on numerous tours across Europe and United States, and has appeared on television and radio as well as plenty of online publications (such as MTV Iggy and Under The Radar). He has recently signed a worldwide publishing and digital distribution deal with Sub Pop Records. His upcoming album, The Provider, was recorded and mixed in Philadelphia, PA with Jeff Zeigler, a producer known best for his work with Kurt Vile and The War On Drugs. The material is heavily influenced by Bilinski’s fascination with cold, synthetic sounds, broken electronic beats and the possibilities granted by the digital world. Those influences, combined with his unorthodox composition methods, use of classic instruments like trombone, piano or acoustic guitar, and out-of-the-box thinking and imagination, make The Provider a record filled with contrasting and striking musical images, where delicate pop melodies loudly collide with disturbing and noisy soundscapes. The songs revolve around love, death and unnamed traumatic experiences with lyrics relying on vague hints and metaphors. The album projects the image of Bilinski’s psyche by focusing on the emotional impact of undisclosed events. The unusual, eerie artwork, created by a Berlin-based Swedish artist Johannes Helgelin, accentuates the grim mood of the record and accurately harmonizes with the album’s sound qualities - combining the disturbing with the beautiful. Coldair’s live performances fuse the experimental-folk roots with his passion for noisy, artificial sounds, delivering an earth-shattering mixture of tender melodies, harsh noise and deep beats; all wrapped up into bizarre, yet catchy compositions. “The Provider” was released on January 15th 2016 on Twelves Records, Biliński’s record label. say hi: coldair.warmair@gmail.com
