Cold Fever

Cold Fever (born Bhumeet Kala-Lee – 27 June 1991), is a British producer/songwriter/rapper. Fed on a musical diet of Reggae, Jazz and Soul by his Jamaican father and Indian mother, his imagination was harnessed by hip-hop and UK Grime, drawing the young radical to a fondness for storytelling through rhyming couplets. “Desi Reggae is a project I’ve wanted to do for years, but a voice in the back of my head kept saying ‘no-one is ready for this yet’.” ‘Desi Reggae’ fuses, mixes, and synergizes the tones of Fever's musical influences, born after instinctively humming 'off beat' reggae chords and a baseline in his head to coincide with a song from the Bollywood film his grandmother was watching. He was intrigued by the syncopation and beats in the track, so Fever began to explore how he could develop a sound, which appealed to both sides of his heritage and at the same time did not alienate his parents’ generation. “Artists like Rishi Rich, Jay Sean and Punjabi MC have contributed enormously for Asian popular music to be played in the Western hemisphere. I guess, I want to be introduced to the world through a music form that defines me, which is what Desi Reggae is. I want to, off course, continue to work with artistes from all genres and Desi Reggae won’t be featured in all of my collaborations, but I’m proud to have created a genre of music that has been received with much love by the listeners. It’s good to be able to write and produce music and lyrics that so many people from different walks of life can relate to.” In April this year, Cold Fever accepted a BBC invitation to play a live set at the venerable Maida Vale studios, as well as world renowned Glastonbury festival on the BBC Introducing stage.
