About Coerce
Following the 2011 ARIA nominated second album Ethereal Surrogate Saviour, this October will see yet another new release from the enigmatic rock group Coerce. With all four members now firmly located in Melbourne for the first time since their inceptionin 2008, the band is looking forward musically with a 4 track 10" vinyl and digital release titled Genome. A project the band has been looking forward to, Genome will be recorded as a pop up studio in the Old Council Chambers, Trades Hall in Carlton starting next week. A national trust building full of rich Victorian and Australian history, this house of the working class is a perfect location for Coerce and the new release to be created. Dedicating their interim releases as a chance to explore and diversify their sound, similarly to the previous 2010 split album with Robotosaurus, the Trades Hall will become a lab for creating new ideas and sounds. Genome will be recorded and produced by the bands guitarist and lead vocalist Mike Deslandes and will be released on their in-house label Capitalgames Records with a national tour planned in late 2012 in support of the release.
