About City Lights Fade

Since forming in late 2007 and playing to a sold out Trash Nightclub in Sydney alongside Heroes For Hire, City Lights Fade have worked hard and come a long way. In 2009 they released their debut EP, “The World Is Not Against You”, which featured their first single “Break The Walls” and saw them shoot a music video to coincide with the single’s launch. After touring extensively around Australia, the band decided to take a break to record their follow up EP, “Strikes Back”. With Ryan Adams on vocals, Scott Mclaughlin on lead guitar, Tobias McCallum on rhythm guitar and Mitch Collier on drums, City Lights Fade have worked tirelessly on their new material with the help of producer Christopher “Far” Maguire of The Mission in Motion to perfect their new sound. “Strikes Back” is the end result of 12 months recording at three different studios across Sydney. Their music has been influenced by multiple genres including punk, alternative, indie, country, folk and 80’s rock ‘n’ roll. City Lights Fade have fused these together to create their own unique sound, as well as including guest vocals from The Mission in Motion’s front man Brett Islaub. In May they played their new EP in its entirety for the first time to a near sold-out crowd at Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory. “Strikes Back is the culmination of a years’ worth of hard work and countless days and nights in and out of the studio as well as at our producer, Christopher “Far” Maguire’s house. Taking a year to put out 6 songs is a long time but we felt it was necessary to release a record that we could look back on and not think “I wish I had put this there” or “this would have been better if”. It had to be absolutely perfect to us.” “The reception to the release has been overwhelming so far, and we have gained a lot of new fans, but most importantly to us gained the respect and gratitude from a lot of people in the music industry, but there is still a long road ahead of us that we will work hard towards and we won’t stop until we get there.” – Tobias McCallum Since the release of “Strikes Back”, City Lights Fade has been featured on Blunt Magazine’s “Freshly Squeezed” compilation CD as well as been given a print interview in the publication. In September 2011, Mitch was added to the TRX Cymbal family and in July 2011 the band were added to the Arkaik Clothing family alongside bands such as Pierce The Veil, Suicide Silence, Chiodos, We Came As Romans and Bless The Fall adding to their already existing sponsors Schecter Guitars and Macbeth which is owned by Blink 182’s Tom DeLonge. The rest of 2011 will see City Lights Fade touring around Australia sharing their music with both new and old audiences. They will also be shooting a film clip for their next single “Turn Up The Stereo” and working on new material for their upcoming full-length album due to be released in late 2012.
