Cirque des Rêves

BIO (ENGLISH FOLLOWS) I Cirque des Rêves, gruppo nato nel 2013, sono composti da Lisa Starnini (voce), Giovanni Ilardo (chitarre), Giovanni Bruno (pianoforte), Corrado Calignano (basso), Andrea Esposito (violino) e Alessio Sica (batteria, percussioni e glockenspiel). Il progetto dei Cirque des Rêves nasce da un’idea di Lisa Starnini, leader carismatica della band, grazie all’inedito incontro di diverse culture musicali: da un lato la tradizione folk nordeuropea celtica e dall’altro le radici delle sonorità mediterranee. L’utilizzo della lingua francese, inglese e italiana e i testi dai continui rimandi onirici pongono il gruppo fra i più originali e seguiti ensemble del folto underground italiano. Originalità dei brani, forte impatto visivo dato dalla istrionica presenza scenica e dalla particolare scelta dei costumi, mangiafuoco e trampolieri sul palco, i Cirque des Rêves lasciano un'impronta indelebile durante i live facendo perdere agli spettatori il contatto con la realtà. Hanno smosso molto interesse fra addetti ai lavori e non, L'EP omonimo (uscito nel 2013) è stato venduto non solo in Italia ma anche in Europa e in Messico e ha ricevuto i consigli e gli apprezzamenti di David Richards (già co-produttore dei Queen, David Bowie, Roger Taylor, Brian May, Iggy Pop e molti altri). Hanno finito di registrare "Mirabilia" (album che uscirà nel 2016) prodotto da Maartin Allcock (polistrumentista, bassista di Cat Stevens, membro storico dei Fairport Convention, tastierista dei Jethro Tull e musicista per artisti come Robert Plant) e ricco di prestigiosi featuring fra i quali Paul Saunders (ghironda di Robert Plant e Jimmy Page), Phil Cunningham (MBE della Regina Elisabetta e musicista fra gli altri di James Taylor), Sarah Smith (violino solista di Frank Vignola e Cat Stevens) e gli Ondanueve String Quartet (Chick Corea). “I have listened and it is very nice. I love your voice and I love your musicians.” (David Richards) _____________________________ Cirque des Rêves is a band formed in Napoli in 2013 and comprises Lisa Starnini (vocals), Giovanni Ilardo (guitars), Giovanni Bruno (piano and keys), Corrado Calignano (bass), Andrea Esposito (violin) and Alessio Sica (drums and percussion). The project came into being thanks to Lisa’s driving force as a charismatic leader and vocalist, and to the original mixture of different kinds of musical cultures - the Celtic north European folk tradition, perfectly represented by Edo on the violin, and the Real (non-manufactured) Mediterranean pop/rock with ethereal vocal lines. English, French and Italian songs with recurring references to dreamlike lyrics make the band one of the most popular and original ensembles of the Italian underground panorama. Thanks to the strong visual impact given by the theatrical stage presence and costumes, Cirque des Rêves leave an unforgettable impression on every live concert. An EP released in 2013 sold very well in Italy as well as in the rest of Europe and Mexico. David Richards (the late Queen and David Bowie producer) was very interested to work with the band but sadly he left us all too soon. The new album "MIRABILIA" is ready to be released thanks to the amazing production skills of Maartin Allcock (Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, Yusuf Cat Stevens, Robert Plant and many others) and features some really great contributions from the Scottish maestro Phil Cunningham, hurdy-gurdy player Paul Saunders, eminent jazz violinist Sarah Smith and the Ondanueve String Quartet, one of the foremost string quartets in Italy. The complexity of progressive rock, the honesty of folk, and the theatricality of cabaret combine with the romance and passion of Italy!
