Calabrese is one of the most underrated bands in the world. Their blend of driving hard rock, horror punk, and deathrock is perfectly suited to the live music experience. If you get the chance to see them perform, don't pass up the opportunity. Their albums are all fantastic, and this set had tunes from each record represented. Many fans were concerned when bassist Jimmy Calabrese retired a couple years ago, but the remaining Calabrese brothers wisely recruited legendary Blitzkid bassist/vocalist Argyle Goolsby to step into the role. No surprise that he fits in perfectly here, exhibiting a natural chemistry with Bobby and Davey. Tour mates Zombeast are legends in their own right, with a sound that recalls classic Danzig mixed with Sabbath, Slayer, and Motorhead. I'm happy to report that they are even better live! They ripped through their set with a ferocity that perfectly captures the tone of their records. Local Horror Punk band Tricie and the Phantom Punks set the tone for the evening, with a short, energetic set that was theatrical and fun. This band has stage presence, expertly playing tunes that were reminiscent of classic bands like Ramones, The Germs, and (of course) The Misfits. I can't wait to see them play again! This was my first time seeing a show at Black Magic Social Club. The macabre-yet-slightly-campy occult theme of the club is perfect for metal, horror punk, deathrock, and darkwave bands. It adds a fun element that you don't get at most music venues. There was ample seating, which is often a rarity in local music venues. I'm in my fifties, so I appreciate being able to sit down from time to time. My only complaint was that the AC system couldn't quite keep up with the amount of bodies present, making the atmosphere rather stuffy. I'm sure this was something beyond their control, but I do hope the owners of the building eventually address this, as shows in Houston during the summer require air conditioning.

Bad fucking ass! Been waiting years for Calabrese to come to Dallas and they did not disappoint. Bummed Jimmy wasn't with them, but to have Goolsby fill in was a crazy cool treat.

The show was great and got to chat with all the artists. The guys from Zombeast were really nice to meet. And the guys from Calarese were nice to chat with too.

What a fun show! It was a small venue so got to be right up close to the band, close enough to see the sweat pouring off of them. The band was even kind enough to sign some merch and take photos after the show. Definitely a memorable night!

Calabrese put on a hell of a show. Haunt me opened and they were very good with haunting vocals and kind of a dark synth vibe. Belltown yacht club is small and intimate, but could use better ventilation.

They sounded amazing and the crowd was a fun crowd! Bonus is the bass player is the singer for Blitzkid and they did a Blitzkid song too!

First four songs made me re-think if Calabrese should continue as a group. Thankfully, Bobby switched out his guitar, & the effect was major, day & night. The Calabrese I once knew & loved. Didn't agree with people being ejected for moshing without giving any notice that moshing wasn't permitted. Half the crowd left for the group they came to see. Not good for business. Hope all the best for Calabrese & Goolsby, talent not to be wasted.

Great guys! The two other bands cancelled and the club could have filled out more, but Calabrese delivered the rock n roll like the badasses they are.

Calabrese always puts on a fantastic show. Both opening acts (The Blood Boys and Hellfire Revival) were both solid.
