Cajun Dance Party

Cajun Dance Party are a young 5-piece indie pop outfit from London, England which formed in 2005. With over 450,000 plays on Myspace, they are currently signed on to XL Recordings and have recently released their debut album, The Colourful Life. They consist of Daniel Blumberg (vocals), Robbie Stern (guitar), Vicki Freund (keyboards, vocals), Max Blood (bass, vocals), Will Vignoles (drums).



Floating around in the summer of 2005, Robbie Stern, an accomplished international violinist decided to create a band in which he would strum a guitar and Daniel Blumberg would sing. Max Bloom, a great lead guitarist was called upon to literally and physically evolve, like a pokemon, into a bassist and be in the band. Two drummers later, Will Vignoles, the son of the classical accompanist Roger Vignoles, joined the band offering gifts of homemade crumpets and fruit cake. Vicky Freund made the sound complete with her fat Roland keyboard. 'Cajun Dance Party' is their third and final band name after 'The New English Quintet' and 'Colourful Life' got scrapped simultaneously. Their first live performance was at UCS Battle of the Bands, which was quite the experience. A nice T-shaped stage was the perfect set for singer, Daniel to express his eccentric dancing antics in a gay shiny brown and blue suit and the band were victorious winning a signed iron maiden LP - anyone... any offers welcome... With gigs at the Barfly and pleasure unit behind them, the band have now recorded their first demo at zoo studios.

Their debut album The Colourful Life, produced by the ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, was released on 28 April, 2008 via XL Recordings.
