‘Practice makes perfect’ is a statement that holds true especially in the case of the Hip Hop genre, either on the mic or the mixer. Andreas Strobel’s practice with two turntables and a cross-fader made him at last succeed in winning a prestigious mix-contest at radio station Antenne Bayern in 2003. This was a huge step in the career of the young DJ, for he won a support slot on the tour of the two famous jurors, Tom Novy and DJ Friction. ‘Technique’ was already his pseudonym in the early days that he did credit to. He and Ulrich Hilbel started to perform together under the name ‘CRUSHBOYS’ in 2011. As a jack of all trades on musical instruments and the production desk, Ulrich was the perfect complement to form the artist act CRUSHBOYS. Ulrich has already been programming beats for 15 years by means of minimal equipment. Looking back on a musical career as a producer for other artists, he was the one who put he project on solid ground. Minimal are also the Techno beats Ulrich has started to spin only 4 years ago. The CRUSHBOYS proved its huge potential for big room affairs at the party of RTL II’s famous dance program The Dome. This and other experiences led to the question of how to gain even wider recognition in the music biz. The answer was delivered by Andreas’ ex-collegue at Deluxe Music, the A&R pro Anusch Mehdizadeh: ‘You need to succeed with a club anthem.’ Consequently, Anusch started to check his network for ideal partners and collaborations. Luck fell in the right place at the beginning of 2011, when Andreas’ mentor, DJ Minike, contacted Florida based studio of Miami Beat Wave. The result of this contact was the remix of their album and thus, a door to vocalists was pushed open. On the benefit of this connection with the USA, the first production In Your Rhythm feat. Miami Beat Wave (DDC Top 40) resulted in the release of their debut single on Newpool Music. CRUSHBOYS unifies the forceful concept of party-friendly, commercial dance music according to the idols of world’s famous David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and others with the scratch skills derived from the Hip Hop roots of DJ Technique... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “Vorsprung durch Technik“ ist vor allem ein Slogan, der im Hip Hop zählt, sei es am Mic oder am Mixer. Mit Skillz am Fader machte Andreas Strobel jedenfalls den ersten großen Sprung. Zuerst auf Platz eins eines Mix Contests bei Antenne Bayern im Jahr 2003, und anschließend on Tour mit den Juroren Tom Novy und DJ Friction. „Technique“ war sinnigerweise schon in jungen Jahren Andreas’ DJ-Name, dem er alle Ehre machte. Er & Ulrich Hilbel gründeten im Jahre 2011 den Act “CRUSHBOYS”. Mit dem Producer Ulrich Hilbel kam zum partytauglichen Hip Hop von DJ Technique der Aspekt von kommerzieller Dance Music als ideale Ergänzung hinzu. Mit ihm als musikalischem Tausendsassa, der schon mit 15 Jahren auf der Basis von minimalem Equipment Beats bastelte und heute über eine weit reichende Produzentenkarriere zurückblickt, war das Unterfangen auf eine solide Grundlage gestellt. Minimal sind auch die Technobeats, die Ulrich erst vor vier Jahren angefangen hat aufzulegen. Das enorme Potenzial der CRUSHBOYS, große Parties erfolgreich zu beschallen, zeigte sich letztendlich auf der The Dome – Aftershowparty von RTL II. Auf die Frage, wie dieses Ereignis dauerhaft zu toppen sei, gab es nur eine Antwort: “Ein Club Hit muss her.“ Diese kam von Anusch Mehdizadeh, Andreas’ ehemaligem Kollegen bei Deluxe Music, der sich fortan um geeignete Partner kümmert. Durch den Kontakt zu Miami Beat Wave, der durch Andreas’ Mentor Dj Minike entstand, kamen die passenden US-Künstler für das Projekt hinzu. Dieser in die USA gelegten Draht führte zur ersten Veröffentlichung der Single In Your Rhythm (DDC Top 40) auf Newpool Music.
