About Bruneaux

In the fall of 2007, a friend gave Matt Bruno a CD that would change his life. Knowing how diverse Matt’s musical taste is, his friend gave him a copy of Girl Talk’s “Night Ripper.” Being so amazed by the album, Matt knew he had to try it for himself. Matt Bruno, aka Bruneaux, has been playing instruments his whole life. He was playing piano since he was 2 years old, guitar at the age of 11, and drums at 15. But it wasn’t until this CD came into his possession, that he would try to learn a new instrument: the laptop. As a music major at the University of Georgia at the time, Bruneaux spent all his time working on both music for his degree and making mashups in his dorm room. He made an album in early 2008 and gave it to a couple of friends and thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until 2010 that he got the itch to start back up and make another album and actually go public with it, and thus Bruneaux was born. He put out his first album “Too Hot To Hoot” in 2011 under the name Bruneaux and started to gain some popularity within the mashup community. It wasn’t until his follow up album “Pure Magic” in 2012 that things would take off. Shortly after the release of the album, Bruneaux would find himself playing his second show ever as an opener for 3LAU at Georgia Tech. His third album released in March of 2013 and had over 2,500 downloads in the first month of it’s release. Playing shows as far west as New Mexico, Bruneaux is starting to establish himself as a rising force in the mashup world. Channel surfing, but with music.
