Black 47

Black 47, who live in New York, espouse an unblinkingly political and thoroughly Irish form of rock 'n' roll, with songs covering topics from missing your Irish sweetheart to supporting terrorist groups, to urban unrest in contemporary New York. Headed up by singer/songwriter Larry Kirwan, Black 47 earned their chops playing the pub scene in Manhattan and self-producing their first indie record, "Black 47". They then converted The Cars' Ric Ocasek to the cause and gained mainstream attention with their second album, Fire Of Freedom. The band has produced nine albums to date.
