About Ben Vining
Ben Vining is a young composer, arranger, orchestrator, and cellist from Flagstaff, Arizona. A 17-year-old freshman at Arizona State University, he has worked hard to stand out from the crowd. "When people listen to my music, I want them to forget that I'm 17. I want them to forget their worries, their lives... I want to completely immerse my audience and keep them fascinated for as long as I can."
Ben has written both concert and chamber music, as well as two full-length operas. In fact, his main career goal is to write, direct, and produce operas. But not your stereotypical, fat-lady-singing, 4-hour-long operas: "I want to bring together more popular trends with the traditional art form of opera, I want to make opera appealing to as many people as I can while still earning the respect of 'serious' traditional opera fans."
