About Bella Kalolo

Bella Kalolo is of Samoan, Tongan and Maori (Ngati Porou) decent . Her velvety voice will explode into a soulful, passionate vocal spectacle that will leave you astonished and longing for more. Last year was an industrious and productive year for Bella. Starting it off with a bang she supported Fat Freddy’s Drop on The Road to Opononi Tour, international hip hop star Mos Def and performing to over 1400 people at the Wellington Botanical Gardens. It carried on in the same fashion being a finalist again at the Pacific Music Awards for Best Female Artist, performing at the renowned Glastonbury Festival, Origins Festival and City of London Festival this also provided the opportunity to carry on to perform in New York and Boston in the USA. After her travels overseas Bella came back to release her debut album “Without the Paper” produced by her husband Alistair Isdale. Her album debuted in the NZ Top 40. 2012 has already been exciting securing Best Female Artist at the Pacific Music Awards and releasing her album in France, performing at Parachute Festival and the 40,000 attended Waitangi Day celebrations at Flatbush,Manukau. She is one of New Zealand’s most exciting artists and has worked extensively as a vocalist for the last ten years performing and/or recording with Don McGlashan, Dave Dobbyn, Hollie Smith, Fat Freddys Drop, Tina Cross, Jackie Clarke, Susan Lynch, the NZSO, Carl Doy and Nathan Haines to name a few. Bella has worked in TV on Dancing With The Stars, played a female lead role in TV 2’s kids series ‘Jandals Away, featured as a vocal coach on the series “Fresh”’ and also appeared in NZ’s own ‘Sione’s Wedding’. She has also been a part of the very successful Pink Floyd Experience 2009 "Back Catalogue Tour" as a Backing Vocalist.
