About Bastard Royalty

Originally formed in 2014 by Chris (guitar) and Oliver (drums) as a cover band, when they first met at a gig by CLUSTER BOMB UNIT. The lineup was completed by Lena (vocals) and Max (bass). After rehearsing a complete set of songs from bands like Extreme Noise Terror, Crucifix, Rudimentary Peni, D.R.I., Inferno, Bastard, Electro Hippies, Motörhead, Discharge, etc., Lena left the band in 2015 and was replaced by Rossi on vocals. Unfortunately, they never had a concert with this unique setlist.

With Rossi as the new singer, it soon became clear that the band wanted to write their own songs. In the following months of 2015/16, they retreated to the rehearsal room to write enough songs for a setlist and their own release. The musical direction remained somewhat consistent, based on the existing cover versions, which were oriented towards fast hardcore punk with a D-Beat influence, also influenced by Rossi's (ACCION MUTANTE) and Oliver's (CLUSTER BOMB UNIT) other bands.

On September 24, 2016, at their first gig, they also released a self-titled 7'' EP with some of the recordings they had made in the studio earlier in 2016.

Following this, they had more performances at individual gigs and some festivals. In early 2019, Max was replaced on bass by Nick. More gigs and festivals followed until everything came to a halt in 2020 due to the pandemic. During the pandemic, the band only played an online concert and decided to wait until it was possible to perform in front of a live audience again.

To pass the time, the band released a split 7'' EP with the Brazilian band SOCIAL CHAOS in 2021, featuring the remaining old recordings from 2016. Then, in March 2022, they returned to the studio to record the current album "Jonestown" with entirely new songs. Shortly afterward, a cover version of VORKRIEGSPHASE's "Scheiss Krieg" was released on their Bandcamp page as a commentary on current events in the world.

"Jonestown" was finally released on April 21, 2023, on Civilisation Records.
