BackBlast

Built on punchy guitar riffs, a driving rhythm section and powerful, otherworldly vocals, BackBlast promises to punch you in the gut. After forming in early 2015, BackBlast released their first EP, "The Area is Clear" with great success. Since the release of their EP, the group has made the transition from hard rock to metal. The members of the band are Chris Tamberella (drums & backing vocals), Dan Cunningham (lead vocals), Adam Pritcher (guitar) and Joe Daugherty (bass). BackBlast first launched with Dan Cunningham, Chris Tamberella an Marcos Eguia (Departed from the band in 2/2016) formulating the early sound of the band. In summer of 2015 Joe Daughtery's bass skills were incorporated into the band and rounded out the rhythm section. Since adding the last piece of the jigsaw, Adam Pritcher, BackBlast has been firing on all cylinders. The melodic grooves of Joe's baselines and the heavy hitting riffs from Adam's guitar were the catalyst for BackBlast's ever evolving sound. BackBlast has spent an incredible amount of time working on the sound and style of the band. The list of influences for the band was enormous, mainly Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Lamb of God and Disturbed. After the successful release of the October 2015 EP, "The Area is Clear", BackBlast is currently in the studio recording their first full length album. The LP is slated to be released in the summer of 2016 to coincide with regional touring. 2016 promises to be a firestorm for BackBlast so stay tuned and be ready for a punch in the gut. Dan Cunningham - Lead Vocals A New Jersey native, Dan moved to Virginia during his Tour of Service with the United States Army. Dan originally got involved with music during high school and throughout the years cultivated his musical tastes and talents. He grew up listening to bands like Metallica, Sevendust, Lamb Of God, Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera and more. While on deployment in the Middle East, he taught himself how to play the guitar and put all of his spare time into writing music and expanding his musical abilities. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, Dan joined the heavy metal band Kaivol Motak. During his 6 years with Kaivol Motak, the band had tremendous success throughout the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The band released 3 albums and headlined many venues throughout Virginia. Dan's vocals range from the melodic rock ballads to the driving vocal fury of hard rock and heavy metal. Chris Tamberella - Drums Chris is a Jersey boy to his core but has spent the past five years living in Northern Virginia. Chris has has been playing drums since he first picked up sticks in 2004. Chris's biggest influences were Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Guns N’ Roses, Black Sabbath, Metallica and more. Multiple drummers have inspired Chris’ style such as Ginger Baker (Cream), Neil Peart (Rush), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Keith Moon (The Who), Bill Ward (Black Sabbath), The Rev (Avenged Sevenfold), Joey Jordison (Slipknot) and John Dolmayan (System of a Down). Adam Pritcher - Guitar Growing up in Fairfax, Virginia Adam's early inspiration came from listening to classic rock with his father. Adam began to cultivate his musical prowess playing in a few local bands after high school. At 22, he enlisted in the Air Force and moved back to Northern Virginia in 2014 after traveling the world and completing his honorable tour of service. Adam is influenced by his favorite guitarist Jeff Loomis of Nevermore and bands such as Iced Earth, Black Label Society, Symphony X, Slipknot, Mudvayne, and Kamelot BackBlast is a Heavy Metal band that formed at the beginning of 2015 just outside of Washington DC in Manassas, VA.
