Anonymous XI

Javier Mejia aka Anonymous XI was born and raised in Newark, NJ. The youngest member of Community Music and dubbed the “young philosopher” of the group, Anonymous XI developed a love for hip-hop music at an early age. As the youngest of seven siblings, at 8 years old, he would sneak into his older brothers’ rooms and listen to their collection of Eminem albums. From then on, Anonymous XI became immersed in hip-hop music and culture.

At 12 years old, Javier showed promise as a budding writer and started writing poetry as a venture into hip-hop. Encouraged by his teachers, he continued to write, joined his school’s poetry club and had several pieces published. Though a perpetual lover of art and culture, for Anonymous XI, poetry became a unique, creative vehicle to convey his emotions. For fun, he and his friends began rapping during school lunchtimes and discovered his freestyle rapping talents. Encouraged by his friends, Anonymous XI continued rapping, composing lyrics and began working to pursue a solo career in music.
Along with his newfound hope in Jesus, Javier soon connected with Wander at church and became friends over their shared opinions in theology, art, and culture. From being acquainted with Community Music’s vision, Javier recognized that he was being called to mobilize a movement within a brotherhood and not simply as a solo artist. Like his varied musical influences including Lauryn Hill, The Beatles, Bach, Basquiat, and Thelonious Monk, Javier displays an eclectic approach to music and performing. Anonymous XI strives to create music as an artistic landscape for others to relate to his experiences. Through Community Music, he hopes to connect people of different walks of life and represent a person of Jesus that is accessible and relatable to all. Mature in his artistry and demeanor, Anonymous XI is described by his peers as an encouraging, humble old soul that has a gift and passion for communicating the Gospel to others in a relatable, creative manner. His affection to serve urban communities and to reach unchurched individuals genuinely shines through the music he creates.
