Anne-Marie Helder is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and lead vocalist with the British alt-rock band PANIC ROOM. She has twice been voted *BEST FEMALE VOCALIST* by the readers of ‘PROG’ magazine, and is a multi-Award-Winning artist. ____________ PANIC ROOM: ____________ Anne-Marie’s main band, PANIC ROOM, have release 5 critically-acclaimed albums to date, including ‘Incarnate’ (2014), which hit the Top 10 of the Official Independent Album Charts. Helder’s voice has been hailed as 'sublime', with a stunning vocal range and a total freedom of expression. AMH is also known by her nickname 'the Little Red Rock Chick', because of her penchant for wearing all kinds of red... and because she always Rocks on stage! EARLY CAREER She began her musical career after studying art and then philosophy, leaving the University of Wales Swansea with an honours degree in pure Philosophy. She stayed in South Wales (far away from her roots in Essex), immersing herself in the rich music scene there and forming many bands and projects. During this time, she helped to organise and run countless Open Mic Nights, Festivals, and gigs. She formed the band 'Tigerdragon' with friends, a joined 'Karnataka’ (MK1) in 2002…. and when that band split, she went on to form PANIC ROOM with her fellow songwriter Jonathan Edwards. - The line-up now includes Gavin Griffiths (drums), Yatim Halimi (bass), and Dave Foster (lead guitar). SOLO: Whilst gigging with bands, Helder also embarked on a successful solo career - touring the UK and overseas with her own unique brand of soulful, ethereal and powerful songwriting. Since 2004 when she released a debut solo EP - 'The Contact' - Anne-Marie has performed both headline and supporting shows, and toured with such legendary acts such as Steve Hackett, Ultravox*, Fish, Midge Ure, Nick Harper, and Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze). She has played every venue from small clubs to cavernous arenas, and brought hundreds of her original songs to warmly engaged audiences around the world. In 2010 she toured with the famed UK band 'Ultravox' on their UK Tour, opening for them at such prestigious venues as Birmingham Symphony Hall, London Roundhouse, Glasgow SECC, and every major venue across the UK. In 2012-13 she repeated this experience by touring with Steve Hackett on his ‘Genesis Revisited’ UK Tour. SESSIONS & COLLABORATIONS: Meanwhile, Helder has also collaborated with various other musicians internationally, including : - as the guest vocalist on ‘Icon 2’ with John Wetton & Geoff Downes (of ‘ASIA'), including a beautiful duet with Wetton called ‘Raven’. - many sessions across the world as a vocalist / instrumentalist - several albums + tours with the York-based UK band 'Mostly Autumn’... - and albums + tours with the indie-rock band ‘Parade’ / ‘Halo Blind’.
