About Andru

A boy who grew up in Utah & Indiana always danced & sang as a child, but didn't take music seriously until he was 15. He explains, “I started writing songs in my head, and it took my interest in music to another level. I had to start just playing on the drum's so I could cut music to the ideas I heard in my head. Then I started playing the piano to broaden my horizons even more.” Almost immediately, he started to get more better playing at local shows, going through what he calls, “the typical post-high school lifestyle.” “I wasn't interested in anything I was doing other than music, and I loved the wide-openness of my life.” Recording on his laptop and playing the songs he was writing, Andru saw his friends genuinely excited reaction. “Two friends heard the songs, and even though we were all broke, they approached me and we all went up to Spyhop and started to record it was free. Then when time was going on and on we pooled our money to buy a microphone and a recording console.” Now recording in earnest, Andru was gathering skill as a songwriter, taking his influences, like Usher Raymond, Michael Jackson, Trey Songz & R,Kelly, Al Green and Luther Vandross, and using them to shape his own style of singing. “I grew up in a Gospel family all my moms brothers and sisters my song for Gospel celebs.” Andru explains, “My mom used to always say Andru start dancing go sing & I had no shyness in my bones so I went at it. I remember when I was like 10 yrs old we was at Lagoon and it was a contest so I cryed to my mom like please so I signed up next thing you know it they played a old school song and I started to dance won $200. I naturally gravitate to that kind of sound; there’s a warmth and timelessness to it that I’ve always liked but I believe I'm the future of R&B & Pop music.
