About Anahata
Formed in 2011, Anahata came into the NYC local scene.
Performing at dive bars and nightclubs.
In 2014, Released their debut EP "Balance". The band released their second EP titled, "Abhorrence" on November 7, 2018. The band won the Afropunk 2019 Battle of the bands and performed at the festival, as well as opening for several other notable tours throughout the area.
In February, the band released their single "Destroy Me" and following up, released "Blackout" in support of the Black Lives Matter Campaign. Continuing the momentum Anahata released 'Suffer' in July 2020, an alternative single displaying a more open direction going forward. Following the single, the band released the EP "Dissonance" in September 2020, displaying a more aggressive and emotional approach. The band reformed after disbanding in 2020 and in April 28, 2021 the band performed live on vans.com, channel66 with a new lineup. The Band released their music video for the song "Rust" off the "Dissonance" EP, August 20th, 2021.
As of last year, the band has been performing live shows again and has performed in shows with bands such as Within Destruction, Cane Hill, Evergreen Terrace, and Vctms.
Alongside with performing live, the group has been working on new material.
Anahata is Chris Leyba, Tevin Chin, Andrew Hines, and Kwante Greenidge
"Dissonance" is out now on all streaming platforms.
