Among Others

Among Others are an alternative rock band based around Cardiff, South Wales who formed in 2010. They took the local music scene by storm, performing in iconic venues such as Millennium Music Hall, Clwb Ifor Bach, Pontypridd Municipal Hall, Meze Lounge, Le Pub, Blackwood Miners Institute and more. Among Others quickly got to work writing their own material and in 2011 released two singles, "There's no Hope" and "Life's a Party". The songs received great feedback with "There's No Hope" being played on Nation Radio many times as well as BBC Radio Wales, also winning an award for best contemporary composition. The song was also put forward to a panel to be BBC Radio Wales song of the week. Following on from early success Among Others headed to Longwave Studios in February of 2012 (Kids in glass houses, The Blackout, Funeral for a friend) to record two new tracks "I Still Need to Know" and "Games of Mine" which were greatly received. ‘I Still Need to Know’ was also featured heavily on Nation Radio, receiving praise from Owen Davies - ‘...that’s a tune!’ In late 2012 Among Others filmed a music video for their debut single, ‘There’s No Hope’ in their hometown of Caerphilly, which was a great success and worked to further promote their music. They also entered the competition UK Live and Unsigned in the same year, reaching the Area Finals in Reading and receiving excellent praise from the judges.
