About AjayeJardine

From the grassroots to the grand stage, Ajaye Jardine has been winning over country music audiences with her heart on her sleeve and a guitar in her hand. Using her own truth and life moments as her musical anchor, every song is an opportunity for Ajaye Jardine to inspire her audience and empower them through the sound of her voice and the emotional depth of her experiences. Born in Richmond, British Columbia, Ajaye Jardine was introduced to music at an early age by her family, with everything from Pink Floyd to Lynyrd Skynyrd infusing her with a creative spark that never left. An education in the performing arts coupled with ongoing mini-concerts with friends and family left Ajaye Jardine with a thirst for music and a hunger to perform. She eventually found her creative match in the sonic fusion of Country and Roots, drawn to the songwriting and musical composition of each one and feeling empowered by breakthrough female artists like Shania Twain, Martina McBride, and Kacey Musgraves. In 2010, Ajaye took her first big step as a country music artist by forming The Jardines with her mother, Cherelle Jardine. Over the next four years, they released two independent full-length albums (The Jardines, Someone’s Stolen Tuesday) and performed on a variety of stages, including the Merritt Music Mountain Festival, Harmony Arts Festival, the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics stage, and International Pop Overthrow. Seeking to establish herself as a solo artist, Ajaye Jardine traveled to Nashville in 2015 to find inspiration and collaboration in Music City. She recorded 5 new tracks at Rough Edges Studio with producers Jane Bach and Duane Sciacqua along with an A-list team of session players, releasing the final self-titled EP in the summer of 2015. Through the process of creating her own material from the ground up, Ajaye Jardine discovered a niche for herself as an “all-natural” country music artist, who writes organically from the heart in the tradition of the themes and instrumentation of the tried and true country/roots sound. Through her own maturation as an adult, this philosophy has come to represent Ajaye Jardine’s own lifestyle and interests in living a minimalist life with an emphasis on staying close to family, friends, community and nature – while above all, staying true to herself. 2016 has brought a series of milestones for Ajaye Jardine in the Canadian country music industry. After a Top 10 in both the Breakthrough Country Music Project and the BC Provincial Segment of the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest, she teamed up with producer Sheldon Zaharko for “My Way”, her first radio single which reflects her philosophy on life and her ever-growing sound. From Vancouver to Nashville, from studio to stage, and from experience to empowerment, Ajaye Jardine does it her way. Ajaye Jardine is a 2016 BC Country Music Award Nominee for Female Vocalist and Roots/Canadiana.
