About Adalie

When Dan, DJ, Derrek, and Matt emerged on the scene as Alt Rock/Indie outfit Adalie in 2009, they were barely the same band that began in 2007. They experienced a minor lineup change and emotional growth sent them in a different direction creatively. While mostly still in their teens, this Philly band enjoyed several mini-successes spanning 2007 to 2008 . With only scattered demos streaming online and no official release in their arsenal, they found themselves playing the Vans Warped Tour. They would go on to do the same in '09, in addition to appearing on the now-defunct Rockstar Taste of Chaos, alongside bands like Thursday and Bring Me The Horizon. Of course, this time they had an EP ("Awake"), which served to further captivate their following, showcasing the raw and explosively original sound of a band whose future was gleaming with promise. To finish out the year, Alternative Press Magazine ran a feature on Adalie, highlighting them in their AP&R section. Not everything, though, was seamless for the band, despite their upswing. From within, the band began to deteriorate. Upon releasing their second EP, 2010's effort "Don't Give In," internal differences and creative conflicts ensued, pushing Adalie into the throes of a total meltdown. They parted ways, committed to moving forward without each other. But, thanks to the support of fans, friends and family, Adalie discussed their differences and have been re-energized. With new-found maturity and respect for one another, they are a band looking to create their own model of influence, illustrated by their emphasis on things like investing in long-term infrastructure. Adalie may have at one point entertained the idea of giving up, but they're fortunately not too blind to realize their enormous potential. They're early in the game, and know well the action that is required of them. And with their incredible support base, they're slated to be a musical fixture for many years to come. For instance, in early 2012, Adalie started releasing cover versions of songs on their YouTube channel to engage their audience in between album releases. These covers include songs requested by fans in addition to the band members' own considerations, stemming from musical influences and beyond. Their cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" has received over 600,000 views to date and the band's version of "Everlong" by Foo Fighters has received over 150,000, just to name a couple. By the end of 2012, Adalie found themselves staying extensively at Salad Days Studio in Baltimore, MD working with legendary producer, Brian McTernan (Thrice, Senses Fail, Circa Survive, etc.), on a follow-up to 2010's "Don't Give In". Out of the seven original demos submitted emerged six powerful tracks to showcase Adalie's increasingly focused pop-punk and alternative rock-infused sound. "Actions" saw its digital release in June 2013 to a receptive audience, resulting in positive reviews from AbsolutePunk.net and Golden Mix Tape. The outlook as the summer of 2013 takes hold is bright for this Philadelphia quartet. Adalie plans to continue releasing their sought-after cover videos on YouTube in addition to making sure that a hefty portion of original music is being served. Be on the lookout for future releases.
