Aaron Shadwell has shared festivals with Gavin DeGraw and the New Kids On The Block. His energetic live show and confessional anthems reveal a voice with a troubled and painful past, his wink-wink-nudge-nudge-upbeat-rock arrangements grooving in garish contrast to lyrics that darkly illustrate injustice, isolation, and heartache. At times he directly challenges the white-male centric culture he grew up in. Shadwell's riff centered guitar playing draws as much from the great slide guitar blues players as from rock and the great soul and country sounds of the 50's and 60's. The recordings and live show while fun, are a metaphor for the incongruity Shadwell, like many of his listeners, face on a daily basis: the hell-bent determination to seem “okay” when many things around us are not.
