About Aaah!RealMonsters

Composed of 5 members, Aaah!RealMonsters, formed in November of 2010, in St. Louis, MO, when two former members of, Centerpointe, Tom Watkins (Vocalist/Guitarist) and Nick Dawes (Lead Guitatist) decided to start a new project. They were still missing a couple key components which made them officially on the lookout for a drummer and a bassist. At that time, Tom decided to put up an ad on Craigslist for a drummer, where he would find success in linking up with Brentwood, MO native, Keith Bowman. Keith (Drummer) had been playing in the St. Louis pop punk band, At Yalta, and jumped at the opportunity to play with Nick and Tom. Shortly after, on one random evening at one of Nick’s house parties on California Ave (referenced in the song off the album, Relocate: Bark Twice If You’re in Milwaulkee, “kegger on Cali street”), Tom was standing in line to fill up his cup with beer, where he partook in a spontaneous conversation with, Matt Moore (Vocalist/Bassist). Matt had recently moved to St. Louis, MO, from Colorado Springs, CO, to attend Webster University on a baseball scholarship. Following the conversation, Matt would attend a band practice and from there the band was officially formed. After the 4 members brainstormed around band names for a few weeks, it was mutually agreed upon to be recognized under the alias, Aaah!RealMonsters. From there they would begin writing music and they released their first 2 songs: Seconds Away and Always and Forever, in the early spring of 2011. When Matt left St. Louis in the summer of 2011 to play baseball in New York, Ian Barczewski, filled in to play bass. Ian would end up recording and playing a couple of shows with the band before Matt’s, end of summer, return to St. Louis. After a lengthy fall recording process, Aaah!RealMonsters released their first EP consisting of 5 songs, called, Drink Up, Take Off, in December of 2011. They continued to play shows and build their St. Louis following throughout the spring of 2012, before they ventured off on a 3 city tour in August of 2012. They made a stop in Lincoln, NE and would then be a part of the Mountain Shadows benefit concert in Colorado Springs, CO, where they played for 700 people who were in attendance to support the families affected in the Waldo Canyon Fire. Following the show, they decided to add a new member, Ryan Martin (Vocalist/Guitarist), who is a childhood friend of Matt’s from Colorado Springs, CO. Shortly after the new addition and the end of their mini tour, they released their 10 song album, Relocate, and now have it available for purchase on iTunes, Google Play, Bandcamp, Amazon mp3, etc. On September 15, 2012, Aaah!RealMonsters, became a member of Here to Ear Music, which is a record label created by Matt’s father, Frank Moore (Vocalist/Guitarist for Folk/Bluegrass band, Old Friends and Memories) back in the late 1980’s. Later that year, in December of 2012, the band played their first show as a five piece, at one of their favorite venues, The Fubar, in St. Louis, MO. Videographer Alyce Watson generously filmed the show and compiled it into a music video for the single off of, Relocate, “You’ll Get What’s Coming,” which was released in the spring of 2013. After they released the video, the band officially became a part of the, I AM PR Agency, roster. During that time, Tom was attending Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, CA; Keith was living in St. Louis; Nick was attending Webster University in St. Louis; Matt and Ryan were roommates in Colorado Springs, CO. Even with the miles of space between the members, Aaah!RealMonsters, decided to begin the recording process again, for the anticipated 12 song album “Don’t Quit Your Day Jobs.” Because of the complications of recording an album from such a distance apart, the band decided to release the 6 song EP, Don’t Quit, on 7/9/2013. Since they had to split the 12 songs apart, they anticipate releasing the second half, Your Day, in November or December of 2013. Following their late year release, the band will be embarking on their first tour of the West in January/February of 2014. Thanks for checking out our Facebook guys!
