About A'won Boyz

What do you get when you combine R&B/Hip-Hop fusion with New Age West African Music? You get three very talented young men that many people have come to love as the A'won Boyz. Standing for “Those Boys“, A'won Boyz has managed to become just that in the young adult West African community by creating a special mixture of Afro-Hip Hop that reaches out to everyone. Started in 2006, this group is destined to encounter success and fame in a short time, recently proven by the unprecedented outcome at their recent show for Cornell University in October of 2010. A'won Boyz has opened for some of Nigeria’s music superstars, including Banky W. , 9ice, and Iceberg Slim. Although the existence of the band is just coming to light, it is not long before everyone is talking about A'won Boyz from the U.S. to Africa. With music that has become “a way of life“, vocalist Jr. stated, the group takes their music and their fans to heart. Many people would characterize the group as a three young men set to revamp the world’s view on African Music and in many ways they have. After winning 6th place in the 2011 #Oliver competition & their producer coming in 3rd in the 2011 #TopTalent competition, these young men are getting ready to release their self-titled mixtape “UnSigned” which features artist such as Teeklef, Ayo Jay, and Tolu. A'won Boyz' are currently embarking on their second College Tour. Their goal is to be the first Nigerian artists who actually represent Nigerian music in America. Recently, the Nigerian Entertainment Awards awarded A’won Boyz the 2012 Best U.S. Based Artist. With the recent release of their remix to Wizkid’s Pakurumo, their buzz is just getting bigger. Showing their versatility, A’won Boyz has put a “Naija” Spin on Ghana’s Favorite Dance, The Azonto. With their growing fan base, they have recently been featured on MTV's MTViggy website for their stunning Azonto Music Video. http://www.mtviggy.com/videos/awon-boyz-azonto http://www.mtviggy.com/articles/awon-boyz-take-naija-to-brooklyn People want to know why they should listen to their music and the reasons are simple- their style and musical flow is unlike anything the world has ever seen before. Listen to one of their songs and you will be humming it all day long. Currently under the management of A. Commodity, the group continues to grow and expand its fan base across the East Coast with the release of thier mixtape #USINGED. (http://www.hulkshare.com/yv5eytx1c4qo)
