About 77 Times

The band that would eventually become 77 Times began in the Spring of 2007, when drummer Evan Turner (then 11) and guitarist Hogan Brecount (then 12) began jamming together on some cover tunes. It didn't take long before they realized they had a knack for writing their own original grooves. By the end of the year, they had asked original lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alex Renbarger to join. Evan listened to a sermon on forgiveness out of Matthew 18, the parable of the unforgiving debtor...and out of that message came the name, "77 Times". By October 2008 they had added bass player Jesse Hardiek (current lead vocals and rhythm guitar), and 77 Times was complete. In January, 2009 the boys stepped into the studio for the first time, and after just 4 hours, they had recorded their first six songs. A month later, they entered "Air1's Got Talent", a national online contest from Air1 Radio, and made it to the top 20 out of over 800 entries. They were just 12 and 13 years old. On the heels of that success, 77 Times entered "Fort Wayne's Got Talent", with the idea that it would be good for experience and a little exposure. To their surprise, they won, and had the opportunity to open for national recording artist/radio host/author John Tesh at the Auer Performance Hall in Fort Wayne, IN. In December 2009, 77 Times took the grand prize in "Indiana's Got Talent", an all-age statewide talent competition. With new songs and full of energy, they once again hit the recording studio and finished their second EP, "Contagious", in June 2010. With the departure of original lead vocalist Alex Renbarger in March 2011, and the addition of Matt Pattison on bass in June 2012, 77 Times has evolved into a melodic yet heavy-hitting hard rock band, with powerful vocals and lyrics bringing a message of hope and truth. Full speed ahead, 77 Times continues to write and record, and has been blessed with opportunities to play with bands such as Disciple, 12 Stones, Ashes Remain, Stellar Kart, Switchfoot, Hawk Nelson, Barlow Girl, Sidewalk Prophets, Write This Down, Ilia, The Letter Black, and many more. Excited for the road ahead, and for the opportunites both on and off the stage, 77 Times brings a powerful show that is sure to be remembered. With an average age under 17, hard rock meets youthful appeal in 77 Times. With a message of grace in a troubled world, 77 Times builds bridges across genres & generations to lead both the saved & the seeking to find refuge and strength in Christ.
